[Beau·ti·fied Ta·boo]
"pa·ren·the·sis [ ] def., used to enclose contradictions that are to be treated as a single unit"

Tokyo-based artist Vivienne U.H. Doan is known for her eclectic, experimental, live interactive art work.

Brought up in three continents, she has experienced and observed the different social issues of many diverse cultures. Questioning the correlation between our social norms and the human psyche lead her to investigate the subject of "Taboo". She also researched the history, semantics and etymology of this word, which is widely used in various languages.

[Beau·ti·fied Ta·boo]

is an eclectic, multi-disciplined exhibition series featuring some of Tokyo's better known experimental and international artists, invited to showcase art works that explore and beautify taboos.
The premiere exhibition on July 2, 2008 at SuperDeluxe, Nishiazabu/Tokyo was well-received and drew over 300 visitors from various nationalities, age groups and backgrounds.
